Gravel Power Workout
Frank Overton
Gravel racing has changed and it has gotten much more competitive. Five years ago, I made a “Gravel Watts” video where I said, ‘There are VO2 max intervals in gravel training." But we are taking that back!! Because a gravel race usually starts with a VO2 effort as you are either trying to not get dropped or trying to make the best group you can.
Not only that, gravel is one long giant time trial! Its not what you can do for 60 minutes like road based training principles, its what you can hold for 5 hours 💥 Or longer.
Watch Coach Andrew and I talk this new gravel workout and 5 hour gravel power:
These workouts are featured in all our gravel training plans and phases and are also in the CoachCat workout library. The introductory 1 hour workout focuses on the power output:

Then the 2nd workout combines the power with the longer sweet spot endurance work in the form of a gravel power simulation

Try them out in your gravel training or build a gravel specific custom training plan with CoachCat.
