een self coached for so long, I had my training plans pretty nailed down. Of course, who wants to spend 30 years trying to figure this all out with so much information out there on how to get faster. I found myself spending more time researching marginal gains instead of actually training. The best thing I've found about having a coach (besides scalping new PR's) is not having to question what I was doing. SO MUCH DATA creates SO MUCH STRESS. Hand it all over and let the ones who spent years studying the science for a living make YOU faster.
Sierra has a fresh approach and knows how to tailor to your specific racing because she is out there doing it herself. Nothing like lining up next to your coach for some epic race!! The first time I met Allie, I told her that my only goals were to end my relentless years of cramping on the bike, to keep getting faster, to have fun and to appear near the top on Strava leaderboards. She said, Oh, I can make you faster! She did not disappoint! I kept getting faster, my FTP went up, and my cramping 100% ended – which did wonders for my enjoyment on two wheels. I used to struggle to reach a 400TSS week, but with Allie, a 700TSS was not uncommon, and it felt good. I never felt overtrained; pushed to my limits at times yes, but always controlled and pulled back at the right time.
Allie kept all my workouts fresh, and always provided quick feedback and advice. She has a lot to offer based on her pro career – with on-and-off the bike tips. She has a way of pushing and dialing it back so that you can feel progression and achievement and experience the benefits of structured training and pro advice.

my A event. I signed up for a 7 month plan and after some research decided that Andrew was my man.
After going throught the new athlete questionnaire and getting my initial consultation done we had agreed on a plan with a goal of my A event, BWR San Diego with some other events leading up to starting in Oct, then Jan, Feb, and March.
Month by month we would work on different aspects of my fitness doing the classic base/build/peak phase but with some tweaks that addressed the specific needs of my events. During this process I was able to ask Andrew a ton of questions and get valuable feedback on why we were doing specific workouts, how they were helping me and also - the best ways of executing them in the real world.
Putting everything together, I was able to get a pretty damn good level of fitness that allowed me to really crush some of previous PR's. A couple of memorable events were the two scheduled events (one ride and one race) leading up to BWR that I totally hammered and came out of winning one and leading the other until the very end. I was so stoked about that.
Looking back, we did a ton of great training, and I learned a lot about how to properly perform a VO2 max block, why it was important to do FRC work, and how to remain fluid enough in training to adapt to my life circumstances. It's been months since I was coached by Andrew but I felt compelled to write this review because I feel like such a better prepared and knowledgeable athlete since working with him. When I heard how my friends were training, I knew their coaches weren't taken the exact route into consideration and were only prescribing general climbing workouts. When I need to travel, or got sick, he was super patient and understanding and reworked my schedule to accommodate those challenges. I don't exactly remember what my ftp was when I started, but I'm damn sure it's a lot more now!
